December 2002 - May 2003

Photo Ghetto (UK) was started in December 2002 by Mossy and Rob, two students from a local school. It was made as a picture resource of recent events and parties for friends to view at their leisure. Not long after the opening of the site it became apparent that the site was becoming popular with hundreds of unique hits in the first 5 months. In April 2003 the web space was exceeded due to the large volume of pictures, which prompted Photo Ghetto to find a new server and redesign the entire site.

June 2003 - November 2003

Between June and November 2003 a total redesign of the site was carried out as the Photo Ghetto team found they had more time to spend developing the site. With the team having more time it was decided to explore CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) which enabled skinning of the web site. This meant that Photo Ghetto could change colour almost instantly if required.

December 2003 - July 2004

With over 991 pictures and 19 pictures archives, Photo Ghetto was growing at such a speed since previous years. With 2004 being the last year of school for the Years 13's it was decided to purchase the domain Photoghetto.co.uk so ex-students could easily remember the site in the future - a bit like Friends Reunited.

August 2004 - November 2005

New Year brought so many new pictures to Photo Ghetto that it was forced to move to a bigger server. A yearly contract for a server with 250Mb of web space was purchased to allow for a greater number of archives and pictures. Between the months of February 2005 and October 2005, 10 archives alone were added to the ever growing list. The year of 2005 also marked the 2000th picture for Photo Ghetto which clearly shows that the success of the site is continuing.

December 2005 - November 2006

It was over 2 years since the website had been redesigned, so using Mossy’s advanced knowledge of CSS and Dreamweaver, a more streamlined site was created including many new features such as the photo search function. In the New Year Photo Ghetto yet again needed to upgrade its server to something more substantial - 2000Mb (2Gb) of space for all the photos was adequate.

December 2006 - Onwards...

2007 will mark 5 years of Photo Ghetto and the success of the website to date. In celebration of this event the site has been redesigned and will include some special memories from the past 5 years...
